Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Academic Exchange (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for everything done under your account and for keeping your credentials secure.
2. Accounts and roles
Accounts are either applicant or employer. You agree that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorised to post on behalf of any institution you represent.
3. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you submit — CVs, research profiles, postings, discussion posts, and interview transcripts. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, display, and process that content for the purpose of operating the Service (including matching applicants to postings and, where you enable it, building your candidate avatar). You can withdraw content at any time; see our Privacy Policy.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to: post false, misleading, or discriminatory listings; harvest or scrape other users' data; impersonate any person or institution; upload malware; or use the Service to harass others. Public postings, profiles, and discussion posts are moderated, and we may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.
5. AI features
Some features (market summaries, profile extraction, and the interviewable avatar) are powered by third-party AI models. Output may be imprecise; treat it as assistance, not fact. You control whether an avatar is built from your materials, and you may disable it at any time.
6. Application preparation
Auto Apply playbooks are optional form-filling aids, not a guarantee that an employer will accept or receive an application. You are responsible for checking every answer, complying with the employer portal’s terms, completing identity or email verification and required attestations, and submitting the final form yourself. Applications that require CAPTCHA verification must be completed manually. Do not use the Service to send duplicate, inaccurate, or unauthorised applications.
7. Imported postings
Some listings are aggregated from public sources and attributed to their origin. They are provided for discoverability; always apply through the source link and verify details with the hiring institution.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that any application will result in an interview or offer, or that any posting is current or accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these terms. On termination we will delete or anonymise your content as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the Service. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
